The Time Meddler

The Time Meddler is the ninth and final serial of the second season in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 3 July to 24 July 1965. The story is set on the northeastern coast of England in late summer, 1066 and sees Steven Taylor (Peter Purves) become a companion to the First Doctor (William Hartnell) after having stumbled into the TARDIS during the events of the previous serial, The Chase. This story introduces recurring villain the Meddling Monk (Peter Butterworth).

Plot

The Doctor and Vicki find Steven Taylor aboard the TARDIS after he stumbled in in a disorientated state on Mechanus (The Chase). When the TARDIS lands on a rocky beach and the Doctor establishes the century from a discarded Viking helmet and heads off to the village. Steven and Vicki explore the cliffs above, witnessed by a Monk. The TARDIS is soon after spotted by a Saxon villager, Eldred, who runs to tell the headman of his village, Wulnoth. The Doctor encounters Edith, Wulnoth’s wife, and convinces her he is a harmless traveller while probing for more information. He finds out it is 1066, since Harold Godwinson is on the throne and has not yet faced Harold Hardrada at Stamford Bridge let alone William the Conqueror in the Battle of Hastings. At a nearby monastery, monks are heard chanting. The Monk lets the Doctor in and allows him to prowl around and find a gramophone playing the chant, plus modern conveniences such as a toaster and a teapot. The Monk traps the Doctor in a cell.

The Time (The Time album)

The Time is the 1981 debut album by The Time. The album proper was produced and arranged by Jamie Starr, which was one of Prince's many pseudonyms. The Time produced three singles: "Get It Up", "Cool" and "Girl", with the first two charting within the top ten on the R&B charts. "Cool" was covered by Snoop Dogg for his ninth album, Ego Trippin'.

The Original 7ven

The Original 7ven (also known as The Time as well as Morris Day and the Time) is an American musical group that was formed in Minneapolis in 1981. Their work has been a part of the formation of the 'Minneapolis sound', featuring a mix of soul music and dance music with funk, rock n roll, and more. Led by singer-songwriter Morris Day, the band members are close Prince associates, and the group is arguably the most successful artist who have worked with him, achieving particular popularity with R&B fans with tracks such as "Jerk Out" and "Jungle Love". Band members Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are also long-time collaborators with Janet Jackson, producing all of her most successful albums.

Prince and formation

The band was assembled under a clause in Prince's contract with Warner Bros. that allowed him to recruit and produce other artists for the label. Inspired by the 1980 film The Idolmaker, Prince decided to put together a pop-funk group that would serve as an outlet for material in the vein of his own early albums, while he explored other genres and styles in his own career.
